![]() ![]() The water is very clear, it has nice waves but not too rough. It's a nice beach, could be nicer if they would clean it. Africa, the Fiji Islands, S, Pacific or S. OK, I would like to know who ranked it, the PR Secretary of Tourism"? I can't find any ranking that backs up that claim, trust me, its not one of the top 10 beaches in the world, perhaps its the nicest beach within PR, I would agree to that, but to say it's at par with beaches in S. Puerto Ricans say its "one of the 7 best beaches in the world". My wife and I finally went this weekend, it's a nice beach, but far from the hype-perhaps my expectations were too high going in. I live in PR and have heard about this place for the 3 years i have lived here. This has to be one of the most over-hyped beaches in the world. I have not given up hope on Culebra, and I plan to visit some time in the future during the summer months when the ocean is calm, but I will be flying there Air Flamenco, as I will never, ever, ever, ever get on that ferry again. Listen, I’m Puerto Rican and I love a good empanada, but I also love fresh fruit and smoothies which are really needed when you’re in a tropical area. Stray cats, kittens, chickens, and roosters accompany the food trucks that only sell deep fried food. Seaweed piled up on the usual white sands. The lifeguards were alerting people to only swim in a few areas, as the tide was so strong and dangerous. Flamingo beach is probably beautiful when the seas are calm, unfortunately, I went during choppy, seas with rip currents and unswimmable waters. I suggest that you rent a golf cart in advance to ensure that one is available for you. We rented a Jeep at Carlos cheap rental because all the golf carts were already rented out. We did enjoy pizza and salads at Heather’s Pizza. I think that April might be the off-season most of the restaurants and gift shops on Culebra were closed. I recommend that you fly Air Flamenco for only $100 round-trip per person. First of all the ferry was a nightmare, I wrote a separate review for that. Still, Culebra and Flamingo Beach have been on my bucket list for years so we booked the ferry tickets two months in advance. The seas have been unusually choppy for months and there’s been a rip current alert daily. We visited Culebra in April when we were in Puerto Rico for a family wedding. ![]()
